Announcing J Rêve’s Global Artist Residency program

Artist Residency, Artist in Residence

Since 2012,  J Rêve International has created opportunities for emerging visual and performing artists, and arts programmers to travel abroad and be immersed in another culture in meaningful ways that enhance their creativity, careers, and perspectives.  We have provided 8 artist residencies in 6 countries to date.  We aspire to continue.

International experiences have historically been an imperative for the creative and personal development of artists.

Now, we need your help to continue this mission.  So far, we have brought 8 fellows from The United States to France, Mozambique, South Africa and Senegal, thanks to partnerships with Give1Project, Dans’Artes, and various individual partnerships.  In 2015, we aim to bring 5 artists from Africa to the USA for their first international experience.

Your contributions will enable us to cover international transportation, lodging, materials, stipend and other accommodations for the artists during their stay in the USA.

All the artists during their stay will create public work or perform for the public in the community where their residency takes place.  Artists are problem solvers and the making of art is a profound contribution to intellectual inquiry and to the strengthening of communities.

We have a nonprofit fiscal partner, enabling your organization to make a tax-deductible donation.  Please contact us at info@jreveinternational.com.

Prodigal Soul: A RevisitationWhile visiting Gorée Island, I was visited by a distant descendant, a spiritual messenger from thousands of years away. His space helmet resembled an African mask, quite possibly in homage to his earthly lineage. Through the language of music, he communicated to me the reason for his presence – to encourage healing through movement, dance, a practice stemming from our antiquated times, but not yet fully embraced. I was only able to record some of his bodily dialogue and this is some of what he had to say…..-Loganic (Apr. 2015)Music: Kai Alcé – “Feeding” feat. Kemi (Vocal Bassapella)
