J Rêve International proudly announces the launch of it’s grassroots global “Choose Love” Public Arts Campaign Project.   Artists in Dakar, Maputo, Port Au Prince, and Oakland have been commissioned to participate in the inauguration of this program, aimed to ‘inject’ love not only in local communities, but in cyberspace.  The initial phase of the project includes a series of murals in the selected cities, and later stages will include the development of an online inclusive community around the theme of public art and love.

Frantz Providence, a talented artist in Port Au Prince, Haiti created a beautiful mural that the local community has been pleased to observe.

The project empowers young generations of artists to globally co-create, inspire, and visualize positivity, while creating an interactive cross-cultural cyber and local dialogue about possibilities, compassion and love for the community and environment.

The long-term goal of the project is to transform spaces into useful and efficient ‘love spaces,’ including performance and visual art, as well as horticulture, well-being and fitness. The project was conceived and currently commissioned by Jacqueline Cofield, who after visiting over 50 countries, and living in 7, felt a need to insert love into the global communication equation.  During the 2014 Dak’Art biennale, Cofield moderated a panel discussion wherein one of the guest participants, Dr. Moyo Okejidi, Chair of African Arts Department at University of Texas, Austin, discussed his work in transforming unused or word-down spaces into useful spaces, with the involvement of the local community.  Cofield is an avid reader of inspirational books of Gabrielle Bernstein, NY Times bestselling author of “May Cause Miracles,” and “Spirit Junkie,” who often refers to another well known text “A Choice in Miracles.”  Cofield, who has traveled to 10 countries in Africa, India, resided in Harlem for a decade, and visited Haiti in August 2014 on a Vendedy campaign with Christine Souffrant, and was inspired by both a desire to inject love into places where communities often has issues with waste management. Jacqueline Cofield commented, “In places where waste management and recycling is an issue, trash is too often an everyday sighting. I can’t imagine it doesn’t impact people, as it definitely impactes me, so we hope to create a shift in paradigm.  Art has an impact such that if it is strategically placed, we hope it will inspire not only love of self and community, but also a desire to make improvements, personal and communal in the environment.  We  want to inspire people to choose to love themselves, each other, their community, their environment, and to remember that every second, every moment we each have the power to make a choice. A better and more loving choice.”
